Marian Zidaru, born on August 22, 1956, in Balotești, Ilfov, Romania, is a prolific and multifaceted artist whose career has spanned over four decades, establishing him as a key figure in Romanian contemporary culture.

Educated at the "Nicolae Grigorescu" Institute of Fine Arts under the guidance of professors Vladimir Predescu and Marin Iliescu, Zidaru has developed a robust artistic practice that includes sculpture, graphic arts, painting, illustration, video art, and photography. Zidaru's extensive body of work is marked by a significant presence in both national and international art scenes. He has held numerous solo exhibitions, including a notable presentation at the 56th Venice Biennale in the collateral events category and has been a recipient of various scholarships, such as those from the prestigious Ludwig Museum in Aachen, Germany. His work is characterized by its exploration of spiritual and cultural themes, often reflecting his deep engagement with Christian iconography and Romanian folklore.
